Ruthless Rye Ipa

The little ducks are enjoying a birthday jam packed with coolness, photo booth and bieberized dj driven tunes, so I am hiding out at the bar next door. Happy to find a craft brew at the Seville Country Club Pub. They have the Ruthless Rye Ipa from Sierra Nevada. This beer is defiantly for hop heads. Citrusy , hoppy, carbonated and peppery. It fills your whole mouth with flavor, none of that one part of your tongue taste. This is a huge beer with a big bite!

Much better as it warms up,as with most craft brews, softens the bite.

Drink craft beer. Cheers!

Maui Big Swell

This is more like a traditional IPA, hops that hits the top of you mouth with a slight sweetness, big carbonated taste and a bright orange color. The hops don't travel to the back of your mouth like many IPA's and it doesn't have much of a smell, like some India pale ales.

Odell Avant Peche not so Imperial Porter

We made a pilgrimage to Papago Brewery last night in honor of my not being under the weather anymore, or maybe just for some good beers.  Odell Avant Pece Imperial Porter is such an interesting beer.  As the label states, ale with peaches added, ale aged in oak barrels and ale aged in oak barrels with peaches, this beer is all about the Colorado peaches.
This beer had a very interesting smell, we were struggling with the metaphors and the best one was the smell of something like a balsamic vinegrette dressing.  We also thought it had a bit of a sour or tart smell, not so much the taste of a sour beer, just the odor.  It wasn't a really thick beer, very light consistency for a porter.  We also didn't think it was much of an imperial porter.   It had a very carbonated flavor and a bit of a peppery or spice taste at the back of the tongue and not very dry or heavy bodied.  It was an enjoyable beer, and very interesting flavors filled your mouth.
